When JMX Brands launched a new brand in 2016, I was excited for several reasons. I was not only thrilled about the new brand supporting an environmentally-friendly lifestyle, but also thrilled to work on branding and logo design. Eco Friendly Digs was created to expand on our experience selling furniture online by reaching the environmental sustainability market. This home and lifestyle brand was designed to sell primarily through its own website, ecofriendlydigs.com, but also to have a presence and activity on social media and Amazon.
For the logo itself, I created a custom typeface and graphic to convey a natural, organic feel. We wanted it to work well in its digital home with a modern simplicity while keeping unique, memorable character. I selected two primary colors as well as a palette of complementary colors to provide consistency across the website. This primary logo is complemented by several secondary logos.
Our brand typefaces are all from Google Fonts—easily accessible by all our staff and simple to install on the website. Overpass serves as the primary web font and body copy. It works in both bold and thin typefaces and serves as a headline or display font as well. My choices for accent fonts were Lora, Dancing Script, and Kalam: each offers a unique characteristic that complement Overpass well.
In June of 2023, Goessel selected my logo design to serve as the new city logo moving forward! After spending my formative childhood years in the community, it means a lot to know I'll have a place in its future as well.
In the 2010s, MEDA's Sarasota Network Hub leveraged connections in Havana, Cuba, to lead educational tours in Cuba. I had the opportunity to travel on this tour in 2018 in order to produce this video and promote further tours to Cuba.
